About Catherine Skinner

I’m Catherine Skinner – Intersectional Feminist, Author, & Trauma-Informed Advocate.

I got into the space of Intersectional Feminist Coaching because there was nothing in the mental health and wellbeing field that recognised the impact of social injustice and discrimination on women. Conventional wisdom tells us that we need to change our mindset, but the data shows that systems are actively working against us. The answer? Start pushing back. It's about finding your autonomy, your control and your power.

More than coaching, this is a model I've built from the ground up, combining two decades of trauma-informed service development and research with an intersectional feminist and evidence-based approach. Women need a space that acknowledges the unique and complex challenges we face—from feeling safe and keeping careers on track, to managing health, family, and financial security. The fear and self-doubt we carry are not about personal failure; they are a direct and understandable response to systemic failures.

Taking a lead from models like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), we recognise self-doubt and negative thinking so we can reality-check it against what you've already overcome and the real life challenges ahead. Instead of trying to force change through controlling every aspect of your life, you will learn how to get clarity, trust yourself and move towards the life you want.

Here's a recent testimonial from one of my amazing clients:

"I have the right to live the way I want. I'm living on my terms.

Catherine - thank you so much. I know what you always say: to give myself credit for the progress and I am starting to do that. But also thank you for all you do in helping me reach my goals! I really appreciate you so much.

It’s truly liberating that I’m not so lost anymore. I would love for women all around the world to start to heal, love themselves more, and live life they won’t regret. We all deserve that."

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at cat@catherineskinner.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Traditional coaching is a process in which a coach helps individuals to identify their goals, overcome obstacles, and make positive changes in their lives. Intersectional Feminist Coaching (IFC) provides the answers for why you haven't been able to overcome obstacles already, by taking account of the real-life barriers you face. It helps you to get clarity on how your goals can match your abilities and gives you the framework to get there and stay on track.

In a life coaching session, you can expect to discuss your goals, challenges, and strategies for overcoming obstacles. Your coach will provide guidance, support, and accountability to help you achieve your goals. With IFC you will explore what is blocking you and how you can overcome it with an evidence-based approach. This model is rooted in CBT by identifying negative thoughts and belief systems, what's different is the validation that these thoughts are a safety mechanism dealing with an unequal and discriminatory world. If we want to make meaningful change in our lives we need to rise to meet those challenges.

Unlike life coaching, Feminist Coaching is flexible and tailored to your needs and timeline. Instead of rigid programmes you can choose how you want it to work. Consistent sessions create a foundation and routine for yourself. If you miss a session or have another commitment, I understand. Life often gets in the way, but we also want to make sure you prioritise your practice as part of your own self-care, so it's important to set the intention to show up for yourself.

Each session costs £120. This is not a small amount, but it is also an investment in the most important person in your life: you. It can be daunting to make the commitment and to invest when you have to meet all the day-to-day costs of your own, especially if you're supporting a family. I don't take this lightly and neither do you. Your time is the most valuable resource you have and right now too many of us are losing it on the wrong path. We are caught up in trying to control all the small things. Feminist Coaching will navigate you back towards your purpose and potential, with compassion, stability and real-life evidence.

To get started you can book a free Discovery Session to find out if Feminist Coaching is right for you.

If you want to arrange weekly sessions you can pay monthly and reduce the cost to £400per month. Otherwise you can pay for sessions as and when you need them for £120 each.
